Teledyne LeCroy Launches Industry-First Family of 12-Bit High Definition Oscilloscopes

10/22/2012

THOUSAND OAKS, Calif. – October 22, 2012 – Teledyne Technologies Incorporated (NYSE: TDY) announced today that its subsidiary, Teledyne LeCroy, Inc., in Chestnut Ridge, N.Y., introduced an industry-first family of 12-bit, high definition oscilloscopes (HDOs). Available in two series, the HDO4000 and HDO6000 acquire waveforms with high resolution, high sample rate and low noise. Waveform displays are cleaner and crisper with 16 times more vertical resolution than traditional 8-bit instruments. Waveform details which were previously difficult to see can now be easily distinguished and measured. Nine models are available in bandwidths from 200 MHz to 1 GHz and feature a sample rate of up to 2.5 GS/s with up to 25 Mpts/channel of memory.

“High definition oscilloscopes are a significant milestone for test and measurement technology," said Robert Mehrabian, chairman, president and chief executive officer of Teledyne. “This is LeCroy's first major product launch since becoming part of Teledyne, and we are proud of Teledyne LeCroy's performance leadership in this crucial segment of the oscilloscope market. From low frequency acoustic instrumentation to terahertz electronics and x-ray image sensors, Teledyne continues to expand our spectrum of capabilities."

“We believe Teledyne LeCroy has been gaining market share, and this product launch demonstrates our commitment to bring leading technology to the market across our full product range," said Tom Reslewic, president and chief executive officer of Teledyne LeCroy. “The unmatched measurement precision we have achieved with the HDO is a result of the combination of 12-bit analog to digital converters, amplifiers with high signal-to-noise ratios, and a low-noise system architecture."

All HDO models have a large 12.1 inch touch-screen display and intuitive interface to enhance operation and also provide powerful debug tools, plus a full complement of automatic measurements and waveform math capabilities. Also available for the HDO are software packages that serve to sharpen the instruments' focus on two key analysis areas that affect a broad range of design and debug tasks. The Spectrum Analyzer software converts the controls of an HDO into those of a spectrum analyzer and the Power Analysis software option quickly measures and analyzes the operating characteristics of power conversion devices and circuits.
