Tell us a little about your current role and what you enjoy most about it?
I provide contracts and legal support for the Teledyne Digital Imaging businesses in Canada – that includes Teledyne DALSA, the Teledyne foundries (Teledyne DALSA Semiconductor and Teledyne Micralyne), as well as Teledyne’s Geospatial and Scientific Camera businesses.
I love the fact that every day in this role is different. I never know what will land on my desk from one day to the next – it could be a contract to draft or review, a dispute to resolve, a potential claim, etc. I enjoy helping to make transactions happen and the problem-solving that this role requires. Every day brings a new challenge – and I get to work with “uber-smart” people across the Teledyne organization.
What are you most proud of in your life – career, accomplishments, etc. ?
When I first started as an Ontario lawyer 30 years ago, female role models were the exception. I had to be resourceful, and I learned to trust my instinct. I also learned to ask – for help, for advice, for opportunities, etc. I was fortunate to meet people (both women and men) who supported me, and I worked hard to earn their trust and demonstrate my value-add.
I am proud of all that I have accomplished throughout my career. I am also proud (and grateful) to be working with a successful company that is a global leader in the development of innovative technologies and superior quality products – and that demands the highest ethical standards. I learn something new every day in this role. In some small way, I hope that I can be the role model that I never had – especially for my 2 daughters.
