TELEDYNE BROWN INDUCTS 2009 FELLOWS
HUNTSVILLE, Ala. (December 4, 2008)— Teledyne Brown Engineering, Inc. (TBE) today inducted Hans D. Hoelzer, Ronald E. Lewis and Earl W. Presson, into its Engineering Fellows Program during a ceremony at its main headquarters.
Each year Teledyne Brown selects current or former employees who have made outstanding lifelong contributions in the fields of science and engineering for induction into its prestigious Fellows Program. Hoelzer, Lewis and Presson were selected because they are gifted technical employees whose exceptional work at Teledyne Brown resulted in the company’s success.
"These three individuals were selected for this high honor because their career technical contributions are considered to be extraordinary” said Rex D. Geveden, president, Teledyne Brown Engineering. "The work of Hans, Ron and Earl is distinguished by innovation, intellectual quality, and technical depth. We congratulate them on their distinguished careers and this award."
Hans Hoelzer, a senior systems engineer in Defense Systems, is known as a controls expert who combines his broad mathematical skills with engineering expertise to solve challenging problems. His contributions throughout his 28-year career at TBE span the requirements, synthesis, design and development phases through analysis, simulation, implementation, and test and evaluation. Hoelzer has also developed and maintained tools to analyze, develop, and verify control systems and their performance – a significant capability TBE leverages heavily for new business. He has made notable contributions to several other programs including most recently the Ares I-1 roll control system.
Ron Lewis, a senior systems engineer at Teledyne Brown and Teledyne Solutions for 20 years, is a nationally recognized expert in Electromagnetic Environmental Effects (E3). Sought out and recognized by customers for his E3 knowledge, he has been described as a “national treasure” for his superior expertise and unsurpassed work ethic. Lewis has been responsible for writing and updating numerous military documents in his field and has worked on over 50 programs involving fixed facilities, ground mobile systems, aircraft, sea-based systems, and earth orbiting systems. One of his most notable accomplishments was the development and implementation of the E3 program for the Crusader Self-Propelled Howitzer program.
Earl Presson, Technical Director of Manufactured Products, has over 25 years of experience at Teledyne Brown in the design and development of electronic, mechanical, and electro-optical systems. Providing technical advice along with programmatic guidance, he has provided outstanding leadership roles in more than 10 significant programs at TBE, including the current contract for the production of Gas Centrifuge Service Modules. A primary contributor on many proposal activities, Presson’s experience has been instrumental in solving technical challenges, developing risk mitigation strategies, and formulating program recovery plans.
Hoelzer, Lewis and Presson were presented with a Fellows pin and plaque. Duplicate plaques will be on display in the Fellows Hall of Fame.
This is Teledyne Brown’s sixth class of Fellows since the program’s inception in 2004. There are now 17 Fellows.
