Net income was $85.9 million ($2.32 per diluted share) for the second quarter of 2018, compared with $60.1 million ($1.66 per diluted share) for the second quarter of 2017, an increase of 42.9%. The second quarter of 2017 includes $4.0 million ($0.08 per diluted share) in acquisition costs related to the e2v technologies plc (“e2v”) acquisition.

    • ​THOUSAND OAKS, Calif. – June 21, 2018 – Teledyne Technologies Incorporated (NYSE:TDY) announced today that it has received a $15.2 million contract to deliver infrared detectors to the European Southern Observatory (ESO) for the first generation instrumentation of the Extremely Large Telescope (ELT).  Teledyne will deliver 15 H4RG-15 short-wave infrared (SWIR) arrays and 5 mid-wave infrared (MWIR) H2RG arrays during the 54 month contract.  These arrays will be used in the MICADO, HARMONI, and METIS instruments that will be commissioned in the early 2020s at the telescope in Chile.

    • ​​​THOUSAND OAKS, Calif. – June 15, 2018 – Teledyne Technologies Incorporated (NYSE:TDY) announced today that NASA has awarded a contract to Teledyne Scientific & Imaging, LLC, located in Camarillo, California, for the Short Wave Infra-Red (SWIR) Sensor Chip Assembly (SCA) for the Wide Field Infrared Survey Telescope (WFIRST) Project at the NASA/Goddard Space Flight Center in Greenbelt, Maryland.  The contract is Cost-Plus-Award-Fee with a value of $23,035,123.  The 29 month period of performance commences immediately and concludes October 31, 2020.  In this contract, Teledyne will produce 72 SWIR SCA devices for the WFIRST Space Flight Focal Plane Assembly.
